In my opinion, the majority of this book was a pointless narrative about Tris and Tobias fighting and making up. Only the last chapter seemed to contain any progress for the story. I think at least half of this book should have been trimmed off and the story streamlined for a concise narrative. I was to the point of shutting this book and shelving it DNF at least five times.
I didn't feel like I cared if any of the characters died. Tris is boring, whiny, and single minded to the point of Mary Sue quality. Tobias is irrational, selfish, and prone to overreaction.
The amount of twists in the story left me unsurprised by and numbed to the effect of the cliffhanger. I really dislike this book. But I will admit it was ok.
